Welcome to the Introduction to Python Programming course at iCode After School. Computer programming is an important skill every child should be learning. Computers are used to solve many problems and connect to the internet.  Python is fun and easy to learn programming language with many useful features. Python is used by Google, Amazon, and many schools and universities. It is easy to program with python as compared to other programming languages. Python includes several features, tools, and libraries that enable students to program their games and other useful programs such as scientific, financial, gaming, and networking applications. 

In this course, you will become familiar with some basic Python programming concepts. You will learn how to design, code, and test a small python code. After completing this course, you will master programming skills that will enable you to learn advanced python programming or a different a programming language

Course Outline:

Lesson #1: Programming environment, Variables and basic calculations

Lesson #2: Lists, Tuples, Strings, and Maps

Lesson #3: Drawing using Turtle

Lesson #4: Loops and repetitive code

Lesson #5: Conditional statements

Lesson #6: Functions and Modules

Lesson #7: Built-in Functions and libraries

Lesson #8: Python Modules

Lesson #9: Python Tkinter

Pre-requesits: No prior coding expereince is required. Students with prior coding expereince who are new to Python are welcome to join as well.

Technical requirements: computer, broadband internet, webcam, microphone and speaker or headphones with build-in microphone
