About the Event
Newbie Scratcher - Game Development
Class Description:
Kids will learn what computer science is and how coding allows them to interact with computers. Our young coders will learn basic coding skills and game design processes by making animations and games in Scratch. They will learn to create their own characters, animate them, choose colorful backdrops and even add sounds and music and, of course, how to tell a story through their game. Going beyond the basic coding skills, this course will teach kids how to creatively express themselves, problem solve and think logically.
Concepts we will cover:
Computer Science, Coding, Algorithm, Sequence, Events, Variables, Loops, Debugging, Animation
No boring lectures - only hands-on classes! By the end of the course, your young coder will be able to share a library of games they designed and coded. Coders will receive take-home projects that will allow them to practice and build on the concepts they are learning in class.
Technical requirements: computer; broadband internet; webcam, microphone and speaker or headphones with build-in microphone (if class offered online)
